Our Approach

The Ripple Effect Program integrates elements of:
Relational Child and Youth Care Practice: Each child/youth is regarded as a holistic, autonomous individual, not merely a set of symptoms or problems. The child’s overall psychological wellbeing and self-confidence are improved through the creation of caring, trusting relationships. This also optimizes the creation of neural pathways in response to new skills and thought patterns. Strategies are individualized to match the specific needs of each child and youth.
Focus on Strengths: Areas of success, coping skills, and resilience are emphasized and developed.
Mindfulness: Fostering in-the-moment self-awareness helps reduce stress and promote emotional regulation.
Mind/Body Connections: Participants are helped to recognize and manage their bodies’ physical reactions to stress.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): Negative, self-defeating thought patterns are examined and replaced with more empowering thought patterns.
Family Involvement: Family members are included as key supports in the process. Program staff members work in collaboration with parents/guardians to develop individualized strategies to assist the child/youth.
